The Cloud–Castle–Bridge (CCB) framework is a theory in development. Its basic architecture was introduced in The Cloud, the Castle, and the Bridge. Its historical, philosophical, and theological foundations were extended in The Cloud, the Castle, and God. The Cloud–Castle–Bridge theory describes human orientation as a dynamic relationship between symbolic meaning and imagined possibility (Cloud), embodied and practical reality (Castle), and the processes that translate and regulate between them (Bridge). Clinical psychology examines how this coordination supports or disrupts psychological functioning; philosophical anthropology explains it as a basic structure of embodied, meaning-making human existence; and the sociology of knowledge shows that both orientations and their accepted interpretations are shaped by culture, institutions, social roles, and power. Psychopathology can therefore be understood neither as an isolated defect inside the individual nor merely as social deviation, but as a sustained disturbance in the embodied, interpersonal, and socially organized coordination of meaning, experience, and action.
